The Winnataska Outdoor Education Center is located 30 miles from Birmingham, between Leeds and Pell City in St. Clair County.  Winnataska’s name comes from the Kelly Creek Waterfall in the center of camp.  In Cherokee, Winnataska means “Land of Laughing Waters”.  This 1,700-acre facility offers a wide variety of programs year-round, in addition to the traditional six-week co-ed summer camp.  Chico Village is an area with log cabins (sleeps up to 8 boys) and facilities built around a western theme which was specifically designed for youth 6-10 years of age.  The Mainside Facilities offer cabins for older youth and can accommodate over 200 campers.  Winterized cabins (sleep up to 45 persons) and classrooms support conferences and training.  Facilities include a dining hall, gymnasium, swimming pool, nature and craft lodges.  A typical summer camp consists of about 1100 campers.  The camp fee for Camp Winnataska is $390 per week.
